FlashBack Memorial Device Creates Entirely New Category of Memorialization, Turning One-Time Eulogies into Permanent Family Keepsakes

West Liberty, Kentucky, USA - September 15, 2026 - For as long as human beings have honored their dead, the tools of memorialization have remained remarkably unchanged. Stone markers bear names and dates. Photographs fade behind glass. Eulogies are spoken once and then exist only in the imperfect memories of those who were present to hear them. Flashback LLC, a West Liberty, Kentucky company founded by inventor Hershel Adkins, has introduced a U.S. patented device that challenges this centuries-old tradition by creating an entirely new category of memorialization.

The FlashBack device is the first product ever designed specifically to preserve and play a person's life story and eulogy at both the funeral service and the monument. Unlike any existing memorial product, FlashBack captures the spoken tribute and makes it available to anyone who visits the memorial site. A simple touch activates the recording, allowing visitors to hear the words that were shared during the funeral, no matter how many years have passed since the service took place.

The invention addresses a deeply personal need that touches millions of families every year. With approximately 3.1 million deaths occurring in the United States annually, a vast number of families are left to decide how best to honor and remember the person they have lost. Most families invest significant thought and resources into selecting a monument, choosing inscriptions, and planning a funeral service. Yet until now, the eulogy, the single most personal element of the entire process, had no permanent form. It was delivered once, often through tears and trembling voices, and then it was gone.

Hershel Adkins recognized this gap and spent years developing a solution. The result is a device that transforms a one-time eulogy into a permanent family keepsake. The United States patent granted to Flashback LLC confirms that no other product has been created to serve this specific function, establishing FlashBack as the originator of its category rather than an improvement upon something that already existed.

The implications for the funeral industry are considerable. Funeral homes that have begun offering FlashBack as part of their service options report that it resonates with families in a way that few new products have. Directors describe it as filling a space that families did not know was empty until they were presented with the possibility of filling it. The response has been strong enough that adoption continues to spread among funeral homes across the country.

For future generations, FlashBack offers something that no photograph or inscription can provide. A grandchild born years after a grandparent's death can visit the monument and hear the story of that person's life told by family members and friends who knew them best. A great-grandchild can stand at a graveside and hear a voice describing the character, humor, accomplishments, and love that defined someone they never had the chance to meet. This is the power of preserving not just a name but a narrative.

Families and funeral home owners interested in learning more about the FlashBack device and how it can become part of their memorialization offerings are encouraged to visit the company website or connect through social media. A simple touch, a lifetime of memories.
