86 DEFEAT™: A Brand Built From the Back of the House
PORTLAND, ME — 9/22/26 — There is no opening act. No soft launch. 86 DEFEAT™ exists because the people working the line, the dish pit, the bar, and the host stand have been invisible for long enough.
Founded by Nio DiPietrantonio, 86 DEFEAT™ is a clothing and culture brand made specifically for restaurant and hospitality workers — cooks, servers, bartenders, dishwashers, hosts, managers, and everyone who has ever had to reset, restock, and show up again before the doors opened.
What 86 DEFEAT™ IS ABOUT
This is not a hustle-culture brand. It does not sell you the romance of the grind.
It is about the close. The prep. The handoff. The five-minute reset before a full section hits. The silverware rolled at midnight. The way a good shift runs when everyone knows their part, and nobody in the dining room ever notices.
"I didn't make this brand to celebrate suffering. I made it because I was tired of watching people pour everything into their work and walk out the door like it didn't happen. Like they didn't just hold an entire service together on four hours of sleep and cold coffee." — Nio DiPietrantonio, Founder
That work counts. It always has. 86 DEFEAT™ says so out loud.
The brand's core belief is simple: THE WORK NOBODY SEES STILL COUNTS.
THE PEOPLE THIS IS FOR
If you have ever been expected to stay composed, capable, and fully "on" through a hard shift — you already know what this brand is about.
86 DEFEAT™ speaks directly to the people behind the line. The ones who carry the institutional knowledge of a whole kitchen in their head. The ones who know exactly how much ice the well needs at 9 PM on a Saturday. The ones who have stayed an hour past their shift without being asked, because that is just what you do.
"There's a kind of person who shows up early, does the work no one assigned them, fixes the thing before anyone notices it's broken, and then clocks out without saying a word about it. That person has never had a brand. That's who this is for." — Nio DiPietrantonio, Founder
These are the people 86 DEFEAT™ was built for.
About The Brand
86 DEFEAT™ produces apparel that carries the weight of the industry — honestly, without exaggeration.
Designed in-house and fulfilled through print-on-demand, the brand keeps its footprint lean and its focus sharp. Every piece is made to be worn by someone who has earned it.
"We're a small team of line cooks doing this. No investors, no safety net. Which honestly felt right — because the people I'm making this for have been doing more with less for their entire careers. I'm not going to pretend that isn't part of it." — Nio DiPietrantonio, Founder
There is no hype. No artificial scarcity. No false urgency. Just the work, and the people who do it.
